Candidate filing opens for Paso Robles school board elections

The window is officially open for Paso Robles residents looking to shape the future of local education. Following an initial announcement in the Paso Robles Daily News, prospective leaders have a limited timeframe to submit their paperwork for three available seats on the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District (PRJUSD) Governing Board.

The candidate filing period opened on July 13 and will firmly close on August 7. The upcoming November 3 General Election will feature contests for Trustee Areas 1, 2, and 4. Successful candidates will each serve a standard four-year term, helping to dictate district policy, oversee educational goals, and manage the budget for Paso Robles public schools.

The school district transitioned to a by-trustee area election system several years ago, a shift that has become common across California following the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA).
