Sheriff’s Office receives 285 illegal fireworks complaints on July 4

It was a busy Fourth of July for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, which fielded 285 complaints about illegal fireworks across the county — and that’s just the ones that were reported. In Paso Robles and surrounding areas, deputies ended up issuing 21 violation notices and forwarded five criminal fireworks cases to the District Attorney’s office for review.

For many of us, fireworks are a cherished tradition, but the sheer volume of complaints this year highlights a growing concern about safety, noise, and fire risk — especially in our dry summer months.
