Tip-A-Cop fundraiser returns to benefit Special Olympics athletes

Mark your calendars, Paso Robles — Tip-A-Cop is back in town, and this time it’s serving up two nights of good food, good company, and an even better cause. On two evenings this month, deputies from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and officers from local agencies will trade their patrol duties for aprons and water pitchers, helping out at local restaurants and asking diners to leave a little extra for Special Olympics athletes. It’s a simple idea: you’re already out enjoying a meal, and suddenly your server is a deputy with a smile and a story about the athletes you’ll be supporting.

This fundraiser has always had a special place in our community — it’s a chance to see the people who protect us in a different light, laughing and connecting with neighbors over dinner. The money stays local, helping Central Coast athletes with intellectual disabilities compete in sports they love, covering training, travel, and equipment. If you’ve never been part of a Tip-A-Cop night, this is the year to change that. Bring the family, tip generously, and thank the officers who are putting in the extra shift for a great cause.
